BGS Monthly Meetings
For the latest information on meetings, please check the forthcoming events page.

The BGS holds a meeting on the second Saturday each month at the SOUTHCOURT COMMUNITY CENTRE, Prebendal Avenue, Aylesbury (map).

In July and August these meetings are usually replaced with an expert guided tour of Bucks towns and villages, or visits to local sites of interest. The typical agenda for our meeetings is;

2.00 to 2:30 Computing questions and workshop.
2:30 to 3:00 Genealogical questions and answers with Eve McLaughlin.
3:00 to 3:45 Presentation by an invited speaker.

At each meeting we set up a well-stocked bookshop, key sections of the library, selected reference books, and on microfiche: the IGI, the complete 1881 Census Index, the 1891 census for Bucks, transcripts of the baptism, marriage and burials registers for Bedfordshire and also transcripts of the registers for the Oxfordshire parishes bordering Bucks.

The speakers presentations cover, both basic topics for those new to family history research, as well as more specific topics.

Non-members are welcome to attend our meetings (although a small entrance fee is charged).
